The Olympic Torch Relay

The Olympic Flame arrives in the UK on 18 May 2012 after being lit in Greece. The flame represents peace, unity and friendship. In the UK the Flame will be carried by 8,000 inspirational Torchbearers during the Olympic Torch Relay.

It will makes its way across the UK on a 70-day journey it will bring the excitement of the Games to everyone.

The Olympic Torch Relay will help shine a light on the whole of the UK - from dynamic urban areas to places of outstanding natural beauty.

Evening celebrations in towns and cities will show off the best of the local area, bringing people together to mark the Olympic Flame's arrival.
